Owls Year 6
Our teacher is Mrs Driscoll and Mrs Turner is our TA. It is our final year at Higham Primary and we are now the oldest pupils in the school, so as well as working really hard in class, we are making sure that we are good role models for the younger pupils around the school.
Keep checking this page regularly to see photos of what we are getting up to each term.

A huge thank you to the incredible staff and soldiers at the Royal Engineers Museum, Gillingham, as well as the Rochester Bridge Trust, for hosting such a fantastic and well-organised day! The bridge-building competition was an unforgettable experience, and we truly appreciate all the effort that went into making it so engaging and enjoyable. Your team was so welcoming and supportive, making the day extra special for everyone.
We’re also incredibly proud of how well-behaved and enthusiastic our 5, year 6 students were, they represented our school brilliantly! It was a day filled with teamwork, learning, and lots of fun. Thank you again for an amazing experience!.

On Monday 9th December, years 4, 5 and 6 took part in a Christmas-themed online writing lesson led by Pobble365. They joined around 7000 pupils from schools around the world to create writing based on an image called 'Snowmen on the Doorstep'. The lesson encouraged them to explore their creativity and showed them how they could develop their writing. They were even shown how their writing could be used alongside AI to create images with Microsoft Designer or turn words into songs with Suno. An idea from Badgers class was chosen to be turned into an AI image! The children really enjoyed the live lesson and generated some amazing ideas.
Year 6 learned about Sadako Sasaki, a Hiroshima survivor, who became a symbol of peace after folding 1,000 paper cranes while she was ill from radiation sickness. Now, the origami crane is a symbol of remembrance and peace in Japanese culture.
The class then created origami paper lanterns decorated with poppies and images relating to Remembrance Day. You can see a short animation about Sadako Sasaki here - https://video.link/w/vl6720d68ecab15#
