Year 3 STEM Workshop - Discovering Magnetism! Yesterday, our Year 3s had a fantastic hands-on experience with STEM Ambassador Ian Head, who visited to introduce them to the wonders of magnetism! ✨ The children explored: What magnets are and how they work, The strength of magnets and their ability to attract and repel, Magnetic materials — testing which everyday items are magnetic, And a surprising discovery: cornflakes contain iron! The children even learned how cornflakes in water can be moved with a magnet! It was an exciting, eye-opening session that sparked curiosity and scientific thinking among our young learners. A huge thank you to Ian Head for bringing STEM to life for Year 3!
Rugby Coaching
Today, (24/09/24), the Year 3 and Year 4 students kicked off a new unit focused on tag rugby as part of their Physical Education (PE) curriculum. This term, the school has integrated rugby into their sports programme to give the children an introduction to the game. To make the experience even more engaging, Gary, a professional rugby coach from the Gravesend Rugby Football Club, visited the school to provide expert instruction. He focused on teaching the children the basics of Tag Rugby, a non-contact version of the sport. This form of rugby is ideal for younger players, as it introduces them to essential skills like teamwork, passing, and agility without the physicality of full-contact rugby. The session allowed the children to not only develop their rugby skills but also enjoy being active in a fun and safe environment.
