Our School

Welcome to Higham Primary School.

Higham Primary School is a one-form entry village school catering for children from age 4 - 11. There are currently 210 pupils on role, being taught across 7 classes.

The school comprises two buildings - the original 'Victorian' building, which houses our library, ICT suite, breakfast and after-school clubs, and our year 5 and 6 classrooms; and a newer building with classrooms from Reception to Year 4, offices, and the school hall.

There are many fantastic outdoor features too.  We have extensive grounds with a dedicated outdoors science area, containing a pond and a wide variety of natural habitats.  There are two football pitches and a smaller field with a trim trail.  Children also enjoy using the climbing wall and tyre park which were installed thanks to a grant from the National Lottery. Our Key Stage 2 children are able to enjoy our newly installed climbing equipment.

We provide lots of extra-curricular opportunities for children. Clubs currently on offer are: choir, recorder, gymnastics, coding and science club. Our children also compete in inter-school sporting competitions throughout the year.

Children flourish in an atmosphere of trust and respect and staff and governors actively foster this.  Children achieve well when they know their parents and teachers are working closely together.  We are always pleased to discuss children’s progress, through informal talks or at formally arranged consultation evenings.  We welcome helping parents as an integral part of the school, and we have an active Parent Teacher Association who meet regularly and work hard to raise funds for additional resources in the school.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed - please contact us to make arrangements.
