* just want to start by saying the internet/signal is really hit and miss here, non existent in our room area and delays in uploading pictures will occur!! Especially as we are now having the full on days and 5 sessions a day pics trying to upload !!
06.45 Morning campers….
09.00 - 12.10 This morning at PGL, two thrilling activities await our eager participants: the Giant Swing and the much loved by Higham children for some strange reason Aeroball.
The Giant Swing, an imposing structure that reaches for the heavens, (apparently a lot higher here than at other PGL centres) beckons adventurers to take the plunge. With the sun's first light, hidden behind the clouds this morning, participants will be hoisted to great heights…. if they dare, We beg the kids to go as high as possible straight off!!! Makes for better videos and pictures!! 🤣🤣🤣 Their hearts pounding with anticipation. As they soar, the world below grows small, and their exhilaration immeasurable. The giant swing allows them to experience the rush of the wind and the joy of freedom 💩 in the golden morning light and err cold ish air.
Meanwhile, Aeroball, a unique fusion of trampolines and volleyball, offers a dynamic experience. Participants bound high into the air, defying gravity with each leap, and volleyed a ball with energy and enthusiasm. Laughter and competitive spirit really does fill the air as they defy gravity and embrace the boundless fun of Aeroball.
Both of these activities provided an invigorating start to the day, promising an adventure-filled PGL experience and unforgettable memories in the company of newfound friends. Luckily with another fryup first….or cereal, porridge, toast etc!
Let’s hope the impending weather deviates away from the site today ☔️🌊⛈️🌪️🤞
12.30 Chicken Nugget and chips time!
Afternoon Sessions
PGL abseiling in the rain adds an extra layer of challenge and adventure to the experience. As the rain pours down, the children don their gear and gather near the base of the abseiling wall, their spirits undaunted by the weather……well, most of them anyway!! 🤣
The sound of raindrops creates a soothing yet invigorating backdrop as they descend the ropes whilst myself and Mrs Sackley sit out of the rain in the cabin!!.The slick, rain-soaked surface provides an added test of skill and balance. The rush of rappelling becomes a unique dance with the elements,if and when they do it!! 🤣
The camaraderie among participants is strengthened as they cheer each other on, the raindrops serving as a natural applause.
Despite the weather, the sense of accomplishment and exhilaration that comes with abseiling remains undiminished. PGL abseiling in the rain is a testament to the indomitable spirit of our Higham adventurers who embrace the elements, proving that even in less-than-ideal conditions, the thrill of the descent endures. Ps, my camera isn’t coming out in this weather!
Problem Solving
PGL problem-solving in the rain is a true test of teamwork, adaptability, and determination. Whilst the heavens open, participants find themselves facing challenges that require not only mental acumen but also resilience in the face of wet conditions.
The raindrops create a soothing yet challenging backdrop as participants work together to solve various puzzles and overcome obstacles whilst the teachers stand in the teachers lounge drinking hot coffee with cake!!. The tasks may be more slippery, adding an extra layer of complexity. The elements, like the puzzles, demand creative solutions, and participants must remain undeterred.
As they huddle under makeshift rain coverings, participants communicate effectively, brainstorm solutions, and implement strategies to overcome the challenges at hand. The rain may make things muddier and more difficult, 🤣🤣but it also forges a sense of unity and shared purpose among the team.
Successfully solving problems in the rain at PGL isn't just about conquering the challenges, it's a testament to the participants ability to adapt and find solutions even when conditions are less than ideal. ☔️ It's a valuable lesson in overcoming adversity and working together, rain or shine.
