What does the PTA do?
Our main job is to raise funds to enrich the experiences of the children at the school. The majority of our funds are raised through events such as the school fayres, discos and Christmas events and we are always adding new events and activities to our calendar.
The money we all raise goes towards buying equipment for the children to use or funding events for the children to enjoy. Recent PTA contributions include:-
Christmas pantomime
£5,000 towards basic school materials
Yearbooks for each child in Year 6
Funded the coach for the O2 Young Voices Choir trip
£200 for every class towards the cost of workshops or trips
We also fund smaller items such as providing each child with an Easter Egg, purchasing a Christmas present for each class, Christmas arts and crafts, even oranges on sports day!
Volunteers
We greatly appreciate your continued support and gladly welcome any help with future fundraising events. If you are able to donate your time, a raffle prize, ideas, skills or services however big or small, then please speak to any member of the PTA, email us at secretaryhighampta@gmail.com or leave a message with the school office.
The PTA Committee meet on Wednesdays, once a month. We’d love to see you at our next meeting! See PTA Events section for meeting dates.
Bags2School
Bags2School is a recycling project used to raise funds for the school. We receive approximately £600 per tonne, so the more bags we fill, the more money we raise. We generally have three collections throughout the school year. You can recycle clothes, soft toys, costume jewellery, handbags, paired shoes and bric-a-brac. Bags are given out before collection dates but you can always collect extras between collections from Mr Walton. Bags can be left any time by Mr Walton’s office.
Discos
We run discos three to four times over the school year. The Infants disco runs from 6.00pm – 7.15pm and the Juniors from 7.30pm – 8.45pm. Snacks, drinks, glitter tattoos and glow sticks are all on sale.
Film Nights
We try to run two film nights throughout the school year. We give the children a choice of three films to choose from and provide a drink and sweets or popcorn for them to enjoy during the film.
We hold various other fundraising events throughout the year so to keep to-to-date, check the 'News And Events' in the menu or like our Facebook page: search Higham Primary School PTA
If you have any fundraising ideas please do let us know!
