Higham Primary School intends to help children develop healthy eating habits and ensure that they get the energy and nutrition they need across the whole school day. It is just as important to cook food that looks good and tastes delicious; to talk to children about what is on offer and recommend dishes; to reduce queuing and to serve the food in a pleasant environment where they can eat with their friends.
All children in reception, year 1 and year 2 automatically get free school meals. However, if you receive any of the benefits below, you still need to register for a free school meal for an infant child. You can do this by going to www.kent.gov.uk if you are a Kent resident or at www.medway.gov.uk, if you are a Medway resident. If your child is in year 3, 4, 5 or 6 the cost of a school meal is £2.30 per day. However, they too will be entitled to a free school meal if you are claiming any of the benefits below.

Meals can be paid for weekly or termly.
Children pre-order their lunches at morning registration, if you know your child will be late in due to a medical appointment etc, you must advise the school office of your child’s meal option for that day by 9am, or they will offered what is left at the end of service.
We operate a one day debt policy, if we do not receive payment the following day after your child has had a school meal, no further meals will be given to your child and you will be contacted and asked to provide a packed lunch.
